INSTA360 Introduces PRO 2 New 8K VR Camera with Remote Shooting
Insta360, a Shenzhen-based company, has launched its next generation professional grade 360 camera to bring convenience for professional video and filmmakers.
Featuring six fish-eye cameras capable of shooting 8K and 3D depth sensors, Insta360 Pro 2 captures high-quality stabilized footage. Insta360 also partners with Adobe to simplify the workflow of 360 video production. Before Pro 2’s introduction, if a filmmaker desired to preview footage during the editing process, they’d have to go through a time-consuming stitching process. The new method saves a low resolution copy of the footage during shooting which can be used for previewing before complete editing.

That’s why with this camera, you don’t necessarily need a gimbal device if you have relatively steady hands. Pro 2 also has a gyroscope to sense motion across 9 axes which helps in determining the amount of excessive movement.
The camera also comes with a new transmitter system named Farsight which will enable filmmakers to view footage shot in real time from a rather long distance of up to 300 meters. One of the features that Pro 2 boasts includes live broadcasting which means you can stream a full resolution 360 degree 4K footage in real time. The camera supports both monoscopic and 3D formats and is certified for Google Maps Street View. It also has two top mounted antennas for strengthening GPS signal.
Pro 2 is now available for pre-order on Insta360’s website and at B&H Photo Video stores for $4,999. It may seem costly, but Pro 2 is not directed towards the consumer market and instead is targeted towards professional video and filmmakers who want to shoot high-quality 360 footage. Compared to Nokia OZO’s pricing at $60,000 and GoPro Odyssey that runs for $15,000, Pro 2 can be considered rather affordable.
To sweeten the entire deal, buyers will receive a three-month license to Mistika VR Professional Edition (a $240 value), as well as a three-month subscription to Blend Media’s 360 Stories Pro software (a $745 value).
