VRHAM!, Germany’s first Virtual Reality & Arts Festival, is taking place at Hamburg’s Oberhafenquartier again in 2019

In 2018 “VRHAM! Festival – Virtual Reality & Arts”, Germany’s first artistic Virtual Reality festival, took place in Hamburg. The response from spectators, participating artists and the media was extremely positive. Visitors of all ages openly and curiously accepted the multi-faceted programme. Following the success and great interest in this year, next year’s edition of VRHAM! will again take place at Hamburg’s Oberhafenquartier, from 7 to 15 June 2019.

In 2019, the festival will once more cover the whole variety of Virtual Reality art: national and international artists of all genres will present VR experiences and participative formats from the fields of theatre, music, and dance. There will again be a wide-ranging discourse programme which we will develop and carry out jointly with various partner institutions in Hamburg.

An international jury will present the “VRHAMMY! Awards” to the participating artists, just like this year. One key focus will again be the promotion of up-and-coming Hamburg-based artists.

THIS WAS 2018

On 17 June Germany’s first Virtual Reality & Arts-Festival HamburgVRHAM!, closed its doors with a panel talk, the presentation of the People’s Choice Award to VR artist Tamiko Thiel for her piece “Land Of Cloud”, and a big closing party.

From 7 June to 17 June VRHAM! presented a wide variety of Virtual Reality experiences and live performances by national and international artists at Halle 2 in Hamburg’s Oberhafenquartier. Visitors entered the virtual worlds in specifically designed, separated rooms. For the first time four Hamburg-based artists were also presenting their work. The program also included keynotes, discussion panels, and workshops on Virtual Reality.
