Overlook Film Festival has a selection of feature length and short films, contemporary to classic, including festival favorites and world premieres in the horror/thriller genres.
For the next edition, Overlook returns to our new home, America’s most haunted city, New Orleans, with new dates of May 30th – June 2nd, 2019. They will be adding haunted venues for more live shows and immersive performances.
Genre fans and cinephiles from the world over will convene in the heart of the French Quarter, home to countless apparition sightings, voodoo legends, and vampire curses. Festival headquarters will be located at the infamously haunted Bourbon Orleans Hotel. Revisit the roots of terror at the very hotel whose 4th floor ghost child is said to have been the inspiration for the Grady Twins immortalized in THE SHINING.
Immersive games
The Overlook Immersive game is a weekend long horror-themed alternate reality experience starring you. Each year, the festival invites a design team of professional creators to be our guest artists. They plan a mysterious experience that lasts the entirety of the festival and features puzzles, performers, scenes, tasks and activities to form a branching narrative. You can play at your leisure or comfort level, in groups or alone. Each year’s premise is kept under wraps until the festival begins. Past games have included an ancient cult trying to resurrect an evil force, warring carnivale krewes, and a hunt for a serial killer on the loose.
